Obituary for Thomas Richardson

Thomas D. Richardson, lovingly referred to by family and friends as Tom, passed away on December 1, 2022, following surgery to repair a broken hip. He spent the last year bravely battling cancer. Tom was born November 20, 1939, in Olney, Illinois to Marvin D. Richardson and Marie Adeline Richardson. At the age of 5, he went to live with his Aunt Bessie Lee Thomas, and Uncle M. B. Thomas who raised him in Ida, Louisiana. At the age of 18, he enlisted in the Navy. He served his country in the Vietnam War and later served in the National Guard.
He and his wife Dawn were married on July 17, 1987. They have 5 children, 6 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren. He and his granddaughter Paige were very close and have fond memories together. Tommy and Dawn moved to Heber Springs in 1994. Tom enjoyed many hours on the golf course near his home at Red Apple Inn. Tom was an excellent businessman. He owned both the Triangle Refrigeration in Somerset, MA, and later Richardson Refrigeration in Heber Springs, AR. Tom took great pride in these businesses and ran them with integrity and kindness. He spent the last 14 years as Manager of the Orchards Horizontal Properties at Eden Isle. Tom is preceded in death by his father Doyle Richardson, mother Marie Richardson, Aunt Bessie Lee Thomas, Uncle M. B. Thomas, and brother Meredith Richardson. Tom is survived by his wife Dawn, and the children they shared, Tommy, Michael, and Donna: Jason and Kyle along with his grandchildren Jenny, Ryan, Katelyn, Avery, Mac, and Paige, and his numerous great-grandchildren. In addition, he is survived by his two sisters, Ann Allen (Forrest) and Helen Bourcier (Chris), and 8 nieces and nephews.
Tom left a legacy of love and accomplishments for his family and his community. His willingness to work and his genuine sweet manner will be greatly missed.
A Celebration of Life Service will be hels May 12, 2023 at 1:00 PM at Cleburne County Memorial Gardens with full military honors.
