Obituary for Robert "Bobby" Barnett

Robert (Bobby) Michael Barnett the son of J. R.Barnett and Jamie Poynter Querry was born in Cleburne County on January 31, 1955 and passed away in Searcy, Arkansas on March 22, 2022 at the age of 67 years.
Bobby worked in maintenance for Harding University in Searcy, Arkansas. He loved playing the guitar, was a handy man and could fix anything. He enjoyed reading and he braided bull whips. He was a man of many talents and full of wisdom and knowledge. He loved music and writing poetry.
In 2007, Bob's life was changed when he was hired as a temporary worker at Harding University to install the Christmas lights. His creative spirit came alive. Soon, he noticed that something was different among the students, staff and faculty, He was dearly loved and known as "Bob the Builder" by all who knew him. One of his proudest moments was on April 1, 2011, when he was offered full time employment in the Physical Resources Department at Harding. From that day forward, he was a humble servant with a mission for Harding. Bob grew up in the church and ran from God most of his life. On June 9, 2012 after a meeting with Lance Mays, former minister at the Heber Springs Church of Christ he was baptized into the body of Christ. "Bob the Builder" became "Bob the Believer.
In 2018, Harding magazine recognized him for his work behind the scenes in making Harding better. In 2021, he received the Staff Achievement Award for great ability, dedicated service and a tremendous contribution to the work and purpose of Harding University. Bob also received the first "Heart of a Servant" award from the Women of Harding, an organization he deeply loved. He and Edie were members of the President's Council at Harding and supported the mission of Christian education.
He is survived by his wife Edie and step-children, Denise and Karl Norwood, step-grandchildren DJ, Alyand, Karlynn and four great grandchildren; and Frank and Shay Davis and their seven children, Known as G-Diddy, he loved and adored his grandchildren. Survivors also are his father J. R. Barnett and wife Sandra, mother Jamie Querry and husband Sam, three sisters Robin Seals, Leah Colclasure and husband Cory, Laynie Ashlock and husband Dustin, brother Jason Barnett and wife Rhonda, step sister Nikki Dillard, step brother Steve Mauldin and wife Kim, half-sister Leann Stevenson and step-brother Billy Querry and wife Sheila. He is also survived by many friends.
A Celebration of Bob Barnett's life will be on Wednesday,March 30, 2022 at 2:00 PM at the Church of Christ , 1314 West Pine Street, Heber Springs, Arkansas. Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM followed by a memorial service at 2:00 PM with burial in Heber Springs Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Women for Harding Scholarship Fund.
