Oather (OT) Farris Hazelwood, 88, passed away on Tuesday, January 4th at St. Michael Health Center in Texarkana, TX. Oather was born on May 3,1933 in Miller, AR to Guy and Dovie (Rabey) Hazelwood. Oather grew up in Miller, AR and then moved to Pagosa Springs, CO at the age of 16 to work in the timber industry.
Oather met his bride Louise Rose Aguilera in 1954 in Moab, Utah, and they were married on March 5, 1955. They moved to Marion, Indiana, in 1957 when Oather went to work at RCA/GE/Thompson. He retired after 38 years having provided a wonderful life for his wife and four children. They enjoyed many adventures full of camping and cross-country vacations to see family. He was a life-long outdoorsman and loved to fish and hunt. He had a good eye and a steady hand and could out-shoot anyone who wanted to challenge him including Sid Allan Hazelwood. Oather was a wonderful entertainer and had a natural talent for music. He truly enjoyed singing and playing his guitar and telling stories with his harmonica. He will be remembered for his love for the Lord, his love for his family and his genuine kindness to all he met. His signature laugh will be held in our memories forever.
