Obituary for Mavis Lacy (Graham)

Mavis Loveta (Graham) Lacy, 91, of Ida, Arkansas went to be with the Lord on Monday, September 26, 2022. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her family while listening to her favorite song, “I’ll Fly Away”. She was strong in her faith and in her will to live. She battled and beat lymphoma twice and lived every day fully until the very end. For many, the world will not be the same without her. She will be desperately missed by all that loved her.

She was born April 23, 1931, in Drasco, Arkansas. She was the daughter of Willis Graham and Bertha Salter Graham. She worked for 22 years and was a supervisor at Eli & Walker Shirt Factory in Heber Springs. She also cleaned houses and was a consultant for Mary Kay for many years. She was a member of Drasco General Baptist Church in Drasco, Arkansas. She was married to her late husband, Carl Lacy for 67 years.

To some, she was known as “Mavis”, but to most she was known as “Mom”,
“Aunt Becky” or “Mamaw”. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, and friend.

Being kind, loving, and caring came to her naturally. Their door was always open to any friends or family that wanted to come by and they always enjoyed the company of others. She was loved by so many, and she touched the lives of everyone she met. She loved to share how good the Lord has always been to her and her family. She made it a priority to teach her family and friends about the goodness and love of God. No matter what it was, she would always say to “keep the Lord at the center”.

She enjoyed traveling with her husband and family and went on several trips over the years. She particularly loved the trips to the Beach, Smokey Mountains, and to Branson. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, playing the piano, and a good game of Skip-Bo. The Fourth of July was one of her favorite holidays to celebrate. She enjoyed decorating her golf cart and in 2021, she was honored to ride in the parade as the Grand Marshall.
Cooking was a passion of hers and she was good at it. If you had the opportunity to try her cooking, you knew it was the best, especially her chicken and dumplings. What she truly enjoyed most of all was time spent with her family.

She leaves behind her daughter and best friend, Carol (Calvin) McDearmon of North Little Rock, Arkansas; one sister, Dennie (Walter) Murphree of Drasco, Arkansas; three grandsons, Scott McDearmon of North Little Rock, Arkansas, Todd (Beth) McDearmon of Greenbrier, Arkansas, and Jeremy (Jennifer) McDearmon of Maumelle, Arkansas; seven great-grandchildren, Erica (Evan) Lee of Conway, Arkansas, Dylan (Courtney) McDearmon of Conway, Arkansas, Shelby McDearmon of North Little Rock, Arkansas, Hunter McDearmon of Greenbrier, Arkansas, Jenna Crews of Maumelle, Arkansas, Faith McDearmon of Greenbrier, Arkansas, and Jonah McDearmon of Maumelle, Arkansas; and one great-great-grandchild, Emma Grace Lee of Conway, Arkansas.

She was preceded in death by her father, Willis Graham; mother, Bertha Graham; husband, Carl Preston Lacy; sister, Ruth Day; and sister, Chloe Martin.

A visitation will be held Saturday, October 1, 2022, from 5:00 until 7:00 PM at Family Funeral Service in Heber Springs. A funeral service and celebration of her life will be held at Drasco General Baptist Church in Drasco, Arkansas with visitation beginning at 1:00 PM and funeral services at 2:00 PM with burial in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Ida by Pastor Odell Altom and Bro Samuel Wildmon. Pallbearers will be grandsons: Scott McDearmon, Todd McDearmon, Jeremy McDearmon, Dylan McDearmon, Hunter McDearmon and Evan Lee..
