It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, Linda Jean Barney on March 24th, 2023.
Linda was born in Ashland Washington on June 8th, 1939, growing up and attending school. Linda had a full and interesting life. Working in manufacturing, as a server, bartender, taxicab driver and retiring from her most fulfilling position as a school bus driver for the Marysville School district in California.
Linda was married to Terry Glen Barney for 38 years, until his passing in 2015. The two traveled extensively in their RV all over the country. It was on one of these adventures that they discovered Heber Springs Arkansas and fell in love with the area, deciding to retire from RVing and live out the rest of their golden years.
Linda’s desire was to draft the Great American novel in her younger days, but life took her in a different direction. Her passion was bowling. winning numerous trophies in different leagues throughout her career, even bowling into her 80’s at the local bowling alley in Heber Springs.
Linda was very active in her community of Heber Springs, volunteering with the American Legion, where she held several positions. She was also active in Margie’s Haven House, the local women’s shelter, and volunteering for the local food bank weekly until her illness prevented her from doing so.
Linda is survived by her daughters, Randie McCarthy and Barbara Emerson, as well as her Stepson Wayne Barney along with four grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her Husband Terry Barney, Mother, Barbara Bratton, Father George Yeager, Sister Edna Miller, and Brother Larry Yeager.
Service will be Graveside Tuesday April 25, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Cleburne County Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Heber Springs. Officiated by Brother Lee Brown of the Heber Springs First Assembly of God Church
