Obituary for LeeAnn Potter (Little)

Lee Ann “Lana” (Little) Potter, 61, died April 20, 2022 at her residence in North Little Rock, Arkansas. She was born in Little Rock, Arkansas on March 26, 1961 to James Robert Little and Barbara Ann (Cooper) Little.

She was preceded in death by her father, her brother James Aaron Little, M.D., and her uncle Clarence Gary Cooper, M.D.

She is survived by her son Kellen James Potter, her mother, her brother Adam Cooper Little, her uncle John Barrett Little, her niece Aubrey Savannah Little, and her nephew Colby William Little.

Ms. Potter was inherently gifted as an educator, artisan, and language guru who first majored in art at the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville. When Kellen was very young, Lana discovered that her immense love of teaching knew no bounds and decided to develop this passion into a career. She earned a bachelor's degree in education from UMKC and taught fifth grade at Westridge Elementary School in Raytown, Missouri for ten years. She achieved her master’s degree in education from Baker University, then taught sixth grade English/Language Arts at Raytown South Middle School until she resigned in 2004 and moved back to Arkansas. She continued educating students outside the classroom as a private tutor, while her endeavors as landscape artist rapidly grew into a new career in which she could combine her artistic moxie with her affinity for designing and displaying congruent aesthetics. Her unblinking eye for detail and immense creativity eventually developed into her own business called “Oh! Your Pretty Things” in which she utilized her crafty talents and creative solutions to build unique pieces for clients such as natural and artificial floral arrangements, shadow boxes, collages, magnets, and many other personalized gifts.

Lana would have undoubtedly defined herself as the ultimate NASCAR fanatic whose superior intrigue in the sport was rooted in a deep appreciation of science and skill. An unwavering affinity for her favorite driver Kevin Harvick rapidly blossomed into a massive collection of all types of racing memorabilia. However, her collections didn’t start and stop with the checkered flag. Her home evolved into a grandiloquent assortment of her deepest adorations, including fairies, kokopellis, Winnie the Pooh, David Bowie, and much more.

A celebration of life will be determined by her son at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in memory of Lana to Victory Junction, an organization honoring driver Adam Petty that enriches the lives of children with serious illnesses by providing positive camping experiences at no cost to the youth or their families. Please visit https://victoryjunction.org/the-gift-of-camp/ and donate to Lana’s favorite charity, which encompasses her love of helping children, camping, and NASCAR.
