Obituary for Jerry Henderson

Jerry Don Henderson, 88, of McGehee AR passed away on August 8, 2023 at Stonebridge Assisted Living Center in Heber Springs, AR. He was born on November 14, 1934 in Arkansas County to the Murray W. and Polly Trimble Henderson.

Jerry graduated from the University of Arkansas Monticello with a degree in accounting. He then served as City Manager of Deer Park, TX, City Manager of Pearland, TX, and was the President of the Texas Housing Association before he started A to Z Tax Service from which he retired. He also had a lifelong passion for farming.

Jerry was active in the community, serving in leadership positions in the Masonic Lodge, The Boys and Girls Club, Lions Club, The Salvation Army and Rotary. He was particularly proud when the McGehee Rotary Club was recognized at the Rotary International Convention in 2002 as one of the top worldwide Global Quest Winners for small clubs under 50 members during his term as president. Jerry was also an Elder and member of the First Presbyterian Church of McGehee. He enjoyed life and his hobbies included dancing, flying, hunting, and fishing.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Jack Henderson, and sister Jane Colquitt. He was survived by his brother Larry (Karen) Henderson of Monks Corner, NC and sister-in-law Joanne Henderson of Conway, AR. Survivors also include his sons, Ricky Don (Sandy) Henderson of Columbia, MO, Randy Joe (Lisa) Henderson of McGehee, AR, Ronny Wayne (Sara) Henderson of McGehee, AR, daughter, Karen Jane (Dan) Latch of Heber Springs, AR; 8 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren other cousins, nieces and nephews and many other friends and family.

A celebration of life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, September 4th, at the First Presbyterian Church of McGehee. The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff at Stonebridge Senior Living for their care the past three years. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Salvation Army or Paws and Claws.
