Obituary for Jennifer Henderson (New)

Jennifer Dawn Henderson, daughter of James Odell New and Mary Jane Thomason, was born in Heber Springs, Arkansas, on March 9, 1973, and passed away in Hot Springs, Arkansas, on March 3, 2022, at the age of 48.

While Jennifer was always late, she always showed up with a glowing smile. Her biggest pride and joy was her children, Brandon and Jena. She always wanted the best for them, and she never stopped bragging about their accomplishments. Her parents were two of her closest friends — she knew she could confide in them about anything, and she loved spending time with them.

After getting her master’s degree in biochem, she worked as a biologist for L’Oréal and then later as a biology teacher. As such, she loved working with nature and all things related to the outdoors. She also loved creating things — if you needed her, you could find her in the shop blaring music while painting and building a piece of furniture.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, James Earl and Melba New, and Clifton and Sarah Baker; her step-grandmother, Hazel Baker; and her brother, James Shannon New.

Survivors include her father, James Odell New of Little Rock; her mother, Mary Jane Thomason and husband Bill of Florida; son, Brandon Henderson of Hot Springs; daughter, Jena Rodriguez and husband Nathan of Denver, Colorado; and many other family members and friends.

A visitation will be held Thursday, March 10, 2022, from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. in the Family Funeral Service Chapel and funeral services will be at 11 a.m. by Bro. Wesley Watts. Burial will be in Wesley Chapel Cemetery in Quitman. Pallbearers will be Brandon Henderson, Nathan Rodriguez, Bodi Creed, Shane New, Justin New and Jake New.
