Obituary for Carol Lackey

Carol Mae Hodges-Lackey

Carol Lackey, of Heber Springs, AR passed away peacefully at Baptist Health Hospital, with her daughter and many nurses by her side, on Monday, January 30, 2023, at 6:40 pm.

Mom was born in Detroit, Michigan on December 2, 1949 to the late Bobby Joe Hodges and the late Mary Smith Hodges.

Friends and family, that knew her well, knew her as a fun, witty, outspoken, strong, independent, outgoing and very hard-headed woman. She would give anyone the shirt off her back. When asked to describe her in one word, a friend of hers said, “she was an angel”. She `helped him at a time when, he said, “she saved my life and didn't even know me”. She had ta bigger heart than anyone knew. I loved everything about her.

Mom loved to read. She would read every murder mystery she could get her hands on. When she wasn't reading, she was yard-saleing, going to flea markets, or doing her very favorite thing, dumpster diving. She loved working in her flowebeds and every plant would flourish..

Carol is survived by one daughter, MaDonna Sartain-Rackley of Heber Springs,, AR,
Two grandchildren, Aaron Rackley, 26, and wife Mary Thompson-Rackley of Rose Bud,AR, with one granddaughter on the way. Emily Rackley-Pinilla, 25, and husband Camilo Pinilla of Bogota, Columbia. She is also survived by her Aunt Linda Clayton of Heber Springs, AR and many other family and friends who loved her very much. She will be missed by us all. Life wont be the same without her.

Moms wish was to be cremated. There will be no services at this time.
